The poll for the Seanad Éireann election in the NUI constituency closed on the 31th March 2020 at 11.00 am.
The count took place in the Shelbourne Hall at the RDS.

In line with Covid-19 restrictions, the number of count staff was greatly reduced by comparison with previous elections.

Seanad Éireann Election 2020 relevant dates

For the Seanad Éireann Election 2020 (NUI Constituency) the relevant dates were as follows:

Close of Nominations	14 February 2020 at 12:00 Noon
Issue of Ballot Papers	Friday 28 February 2020
Close of Poll	31 March 2020 at 11:00am (votes must be returned by post)
Last Day for acceptance of change of address was Friday 7th February 2020. If you wish to update your details please follow the process as outlined on our checking and updating details page.

Graduates of any member institution of the National University of Ireland who have received a degree (other than an honorary degree), and who are Irish citizens are eligible to vote in Seanad Éireann elections. It is however essential that you are included in the University electoral register and that your postal address details are up to date.

Only graduates whose names appear in the current register are eligible to vote at the time of an election.

In line with legislation, the 2019 revision of the NUI Seanad Éireann register (published on 1 June 2019) was used for the issuing of ballot papers for the 2020 election.

Voting papers are posted to all registered graduates, no matter where in the world you live.
