NUI supports research by awarding fellowships and other awards valued at over €1.2 million

The National University of Ireland will hold its annual awards ceremony on the 12th November to celebrate the academic achievements of its graduates and students. At the ceremony, the Chancellor of the University Dr Maurice Manning will present NUI Fellowships, Scholarships and other awards to the successful scholars. The total value of NUI awards in 2014 is over €1.2 million. Among the awards to be presented are five Post-Doctoral Fellowships, in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Sciences. The areas of research, which will be pursued by the new Fellows, include Parkinson’s Disease, Green Chemistry, international student mobility and English literature. The Fellowships are valued at €80,000 each over two years..

The NUI E J Phelan Fellowship in International Law and the NUI Travelling Studentships in the Humanities and Social Sciences and in the Sciences will also be awarded together with a range of other awards for students and graduates of the University.

In 2014, over one hundred students and graduates from the constituent universities and recognised colleges of the federal university will receive awards. UCD, UCC, Maynooth University, NUI Galway, RCSI, St Angela’s College and NCAD will be represented. For the first time, students from the overseas campuses in Bahrain and Penang feature among the award winners. Other awards include the Dr H H Stewart Literary and Medical Scholarships, the Dr Mary L Thornton Scholarship in Education, the Denis Phelan Scholarship, the Mansion House Fund Scholarships in Irish and Irish History and the NUI Art and Design Award.
