The National University of Ireland welcomes the publication of the Seanad Electoral (University Members) (Amendment) Bill 2024 today. The legislation specifies the National University of Ireland as the Central Registration Authority (CRA) for the new six-seater higher education constituency.
The CRA is currently developing a registration process for electors, but the next election will be based on the existing system with no impact on existing NUI (or TCD) electors. When this new registration process is developed and when the bill is passed and enacted, NUI will directly inform its constituents of next steps. The CRA will also ensure information is widely available for the expanded electorate.
