Dr Manning went on to say how 2016 - the centenary of the 1916 Rising - has been particularly special for RCSI, given that the college’s premises “having been occupied by the insurgents, was an important part of the backdrop for the Rising, and that members of the College, exercising their profession, also played an active role in tending the wounded and dying on both sides. ” Dr Manning said that he was pleased to pay tribute to the College for the imaginative programme of events arranged, to highlight and contextualise the contribution of RCSI during 1916.
