Dowling, Eva Elizabeth
Green Party Councillor
Fellow Graduate,
I'm asking for your number 1 vote, to elect an experienced new voice to Seanad Éireann.
I’m Eva, a Green Party county councillor and new mum-of-four. I worked in the previous government as a ministerial advisor and parliamentary assistant. My background is in higher education and science communications.
I am a graduate of University College Dublin (BA, Politics and Italian, 2007) and the University of Edinburgh (MSc Nationalism Studies, 2011).
Having graduated at the time of the global financial crisis, I left Ireland to work and study in Australia and the UK.
I came home in 2011 because I wanted to help rebuild our country: I wanted to see younger people graduate into better opportunities than we had.
I got involved with the Green Party in 2012 after its total wipeout, because I believe that Ireland needs a Green Party to represent climate, biodiversity, and environmental matters. I have worked on other progressive projects, including co-founding and convening the Scientists for Yes platform during the Repeal referendum.
Like so many people of my generation, I understand the challenges and day-to-day struggles we are all facing: the housing crisis, healthcare crisis, childcare costs, lack of education reform, climate change, and the cost of living. We need to act now so that the next generation can have a better future to look forward to.
More than ever, the Oireachtas needs a strong green representative in the Seanad to continue our fight against climate change. I believe that we can't have climate action without social justice. We need solutions that will deliver lasting change and a better future for everyone in society.
There is now very little green representation in the Oireachtas. A vote for me will enhance Ireland's focus on climate and so we don't have to pay fines for missing our targets. I’d be honoured to represent you. If elected my focus will be:
Lasting climate action: meeting our climate targets Housing for everyone in society -
Protecting our environment and biodiversity -
Reform of our healthcare system Funding for third level institutions and support for students
Reform of our primary and secondary education system.
Social justice: supporting everyone in our society
Pass the Occupied Territories Bill
You may have never voted green before. Please consider voting number 1 for an experienced new voice in Seanad Éireann.
Yours faithfully,
Eva Dowling
Green Party Councillor
